Japan-inspired origami art, cards and gifts for any occasion.

Made in the U.S.A.

Welcome.

Inspired by the aesthetics of our Japanese and American grandmothers, we invent one-of-a-kind fine art for sharing the joys of life. Our award-winning origami collage landscapes of historical sites, athletes in action and seasonal scenes are part of private and public collections in the U.S. and Asia, from a city hall in Omihachiman, Japan to an elementary school in San Diego to a sister city collection at the J.W. Marriott Grand Rapids for which we did six commissioned pieces. Our origami landscapes have been exhibited in more than 30 juried shows and museums across the United States including The Museum of the Hudson Highlands, the American Crafts Festival, the White Plains, New York Outdoor Art Festival, the Lincoln Arts Festival and the Nebraska Governor's Mansion.

Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper. A beautiful two- or three-dimensional origami shape is created by folding a single piece of paper. In Japan, the word “kami” – from which “orikami” comes – means both “paper” and “god-spirit,” such as those spirits that inhabit the awe-inspiring natural sights of mountains, rivers and large, old trees.

To create scenes that reflect a mood or a place or a person, we invent original origami shapes from handmade Japanese papers, fabrics or metals. Our work is a modern adaption of the tradition of origami and reflects a blending of two cultures. Stephen and Honda spend hours choosing papers for color and texture or in “research and development” inventing new origami shapes for a specific scene. We find joy in changing a simple flat piece of paper into a representative of a part of the world. Just as a piece of paper can be reinvented into an airplane or a griffin or a flower, the possibilities for each one of us is endless.
